Behavioral health is one of the areas where AI could help the most, and one of the areas where careless AI could do the most harm. The setting is sensitive, the patients are vulnerable, and the work is emotionally and operationally complex. That is why behavioral health AI must prove more than technical performance.
It must prove privacy before prediction
Psychiatric units require a different privacy posture than many other clinical environments. Patients deserve dignity in moments when they may be frightened, disorganized, withdrawn, or under observation for safety. Any technology introduced into that environment must minimize what it collects and make clear what it will never collect.
